Watersports taster sessions are : Great fun Easy Suitable for all and great for groups With the latest equipment, friendly and qualified instructors, we guarantee to get everyone out on the water safely whilst having a great time. Lagoon Mega Park focuses on team building and some healthy competition! The day comprises of a number of challenges based on both water and land. Each team member will experience a Thunder Cat Ride, Windsurfing, Sailing and Kayaking. After these water based activities, teams will compete in a series of challenges on land. Teams will earn points which can be used to purchase raft building equipment. Finally, using whatever equipment they have managed to buy, teams then have to build a raft ready to race in the "Lagoon Derby". This can often provoke hilarious results! Its a day packed full of team building activities and oodles of fun! Charter our snazzy high-speed motorcrusier for a real touch of class. Cruise past the famous piers and experience a view of Brighton that few are privileged to see! With an RYA instructor onboard you can take the opportunity to learn the basics of driving a motorboat or just simply sit back and relax! Ocean Blend is a unique teaming building event that combines yacht sailing and powerboating. Sailing is a successful vehicle for training and development. Similar to business it requires individuals with a variety of skills to bind together as a unit to operate effectively. Combine this with the thrills of powerboating and thunder catting and you have an unbeatable day out. Yacht sailing We provide all the specialised equipment, full training and skipper. No previous experience is required. We will take you out as a total beginner and bring you back as part of the crew having had a real taste of what yachting is all about. After a short briefing with the skipper you will motor out of Brighton Marina and get busy hoisting the sails. Once clear of the marina entrance it is then time to turn off the engine and harness the power of the wind. It is a truly calming experience out on the ocean with only your crew and sea gulls for company. The session will be spent getting to grips with the basics of sailing under the watchful eye of one of our yacht masters. You will set sail along the Brighton Coast, cruising past the piers and be given the privilege to see Brighton from the big blue. You will then get the chance to race these yachts. Powerboating The mean and leanThunder Cats, full of power and light on weight these racing boats are licensed to thrill! These light multi-hull racing craft with big meaty engines will have your heart in your mouth. With better power to weight ratio than Ferrari and creating up to 2G in the turns you and bet you are in for a thrill You will spend the session in this light twin-hulled flyer with a heavyweight racing engine. After receiving expert instruction in the art of these mean racing machines you will head out onto the water. The instructors will amaze you with what these boats can do. In very calm Weather you may get to take the helm! This is the ultimate ‘hold on tight ride!” The session also includes a high speed ride along the Brighton coast in our large RIB powerboat as well as a thrilling Zap Cat Ride. Where? Work as a team to solve a series of land based 'mind' challenges. Each team will score points which are converted to £'s to purchase raft building equipment from our store. Create your raft with the 'money' you have earnt in the time available and race it. Raft building is an excellent activity for body and mind! Using barrels, planks and ropes you can test your skills and innovation to build the the best raft or at least one that stays afloat! You then take to the water with your raft, kitted out with buoyancy aids and paddles, to put it to the test and race against other teams! From Brighton Marina our instructor will take you for a thrilling ride in both a Thunder Cat and our RIB powerboat. THEN, weather permitting its your turn to drive! A Thunder Cat is essentially a heavyweight racing engine strapped to a lightweight twin-hull, designed to handle the wildest surf. You?ll find out what a Thunder Cat can do, including jaw-dropping big air jumps and high speed turns. Where? Brighton Marina How Many People? Minimum 6. How Long? 2 hours Suitability? Wacky Races provides teams and individuals with the challenge to market, brand, show and race their own boat. Armed with pieces of a boat and their own imagination the teams compete to create the strongest branding and the best boat to win our wacky race. Teams must demonstrate the ability to communicate, plan, prioritise, work together and share workload to complete their dinghy in the time allowed before taking to the water. Where? Go wake boarding with your friends or Colleagues on our cable wakeboarding system. With professional instruction we can guarantee you success if you have never done it before. Experience the sailing on our 36ft performance yachts combining comfort and speed to enjoy the sussex coastline. After a safety briefing on board, you are given your sailing gear and lifejacket. Your instructor will introduce you to the basics of sailing, from hoisting the sails to helming, and may even teach you some sailing jargon. Depending on conditions, head out into the English Channel for some real open-water cruising, or go for a sightseeing tour along the beautiful Sussex coastline. Choose to take an active part in the sailing, or just sit back in the cockpit and let the crew do the hard work while you relax. Lagoon Watersport's are offering the Children of Cardinal Newman School the chance to take part in a special 5 week beginners Windsurf or Sailing course (to be decided). The safe and sheltered waters of Hove Lagoon are the perfect place to learn to sail and Windsurf. We have over 16 years experience of teaching kids and have introduced thousands of kids to watersports. This beginners course will introduce a basic understanding of how a boat sails. The Course Content Includes: Rigging, steering and basic boat handling. The Course Objective is to be able to steer and understand the basic principles of sailing a dinghy. You'll be on board a modern Sigma high-performance manoeuverable keelboat. Meet your instructor and the crew, before heading to the yachts for a safety briefing. Training includes hoisting sails, helming, practising the most efficient methods of manoeuvring the yacht and learning how to keelhaul landlubbers. Then you'll be briefed on the rules of the race, which takes place on a floating 'race track'. You'll participate fully in crewing the yacht during the race, putting into action everything that you've learned and pitting you against the competition and the elements. Afterwards you'll retire to the clubhouse for results, and you're welcome to go for a well earned drink with the instructor and crew in one of the local bars afterwards.
